Kalank Box-Office Collection, Day 3: Alia Bhatt-Varun Dhawan's Chemistry Keeps The Flame Alive
Karan Johar's ambitious project, Kalank, starring Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha-Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit-Sanjay Dutt as its ensemble cast, has been going steady at the box-office. The film, which hit theatres on April 17(Wednesday) had a record-breaking opening of 2019 with Rs 21.60 crore. On day 2, it again minted a good Rs 11.45 crore and yesterday, Day 3, the film has maintained the tempo and registered Rs 11.6 crore (according to Box Office India).

The film is surely reaping the benefits of a long weekend, especially before Avengers: Endgame hits screens next Friday, April 26. The theatres witnessed  good footfall, yesterday, as it was a bank holiday for Good Friday. Now, Saturday and Sunday are crucial for the mega budget film to mint more moolahs to recover the cost soonest.

Talking about reviews, the film is getting mixed response now. While some are finding loopholes in direction, others are appreciating the canvas and performances. SpotboyE.com Editor, Vickey Lalwani, rated the film 3 stars. While he found the story too predictable and a slack in the direction at some points, he appreciated Varun and Alia's chemistry, especially in the last scene. He wrote, "What I missed was the unpredictability in the story. When you have such a big cast staring at you, one is bound to expect a lot of twists and turns like in K3G, KHNH, K2H2 and KANK which take you by surprise. Sadly, that is missing here, perhaps because Abhishek Varman (director) rolls out the story in a very step-by-step way. Visually a treat packed with strong performances from most actors. The climax scene, in particular, will remain in your memory for a long time. It is patiently and beautifully shot, you feel for the characters and Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt excel in that frame."
